Welcome to the Vancouver Rowing Club The Vancouver Rowing Club is a non-profit, multi-sport, amateur athletic club centrally located in the heart of Vancouver. Nestled in Stanley Park, with an unbeatable view of Coal Harbour, the Vancouver Rowing Club is Vancouver's oldest private club. The Vancouver Rowing Club (VRC) is not just about rowing; in addition to our outstanding rowing facilities, we also field highly competitive teams in rugby and field hockey, and are some of the most challenging racers in the local yachting scene. The Club also welcomes all other athletes through our social memberships and in our support of Vancouver's amateur athletic community. The VRC is also proud of the support we provide to Vancouver's diverse community with the use of our heritage designated clubhouse and in the many social and athletic events we offer to the general public. Rowing The founding sport of the Vancouver Rowing Club is proud to boast of its unsurpassed history in international and Olympic rowing, and continues its tradition of athletic excellence. VRC celebrates an impressive international record, and continues to foster athletes for Canada's Olympic, Pan American and Commonwealth Games teams. We currently have a fleet of 5 eights, 10 four person boats (quads & fours), 11 two person boats (primarily doubles but also pairs) and 10 singles. There are also a variety of members who have private shells. We attend regattas at other rowing clubs on a regular basis in Greater Vancouver, Vancouver Island and in the states of Washington and Oregon, and still see VRC rowers occasionally venturing farther afield with resounding success. Members of the Club have been rowing in Coal Harbour since the club's inception over 117 years ago. We are proud members of the local community and have been part of Vancouver since 1886. Our popular " Learn to Row" courses on Coal Harbour play an important role in the development of rowing in Vancouver. Field Hockey The VRC Jokers welcome players of skill levels from novice to Olympic calibre. With teams in all league divisions of men's and women's hockey, Jokers take pride in their combination of social and competitive hockey. Joker 'orange' is a familiar sight at local and international tournaments in Hong Kong, Great Britain, Ireland, Bermuda and California. Join us for runs in Stanley Park, summer mixed hockey and dances. Rugby Vancouver Rowing Club fielded its first rugby team in 1908, a group of rowers wanting competition in the off-season. An impressive history of local and international honours was to follow. The four senior and the junior "Rowers" teams are highly competetive in local team rivalry. Join the VRC Rowers, BC provincial champions, and tour wherever fine rugby is found. Rugby players are often known to gather in the Carver Room for after-sport camaraderie. Yachting Weigh anchor for cruises, summer regattas, dockside barbeques, and the Commodore's Dinner Dance. Associated with major boating associations, yachters compete in local and international races. Reciprocity with other clubs brings sailors from around the to our docks and gives our offshore cruisers a home away from home. Our facilities in Coal Harbour include 200+ berths, a mast tower and tidal grids. Social VRC offers social memberships to walkers, joggers and runners who enjoy the trails and seawall just steps from our clubhouse in Stanley Park. The weight room, showers and lounges are available to all members. |
